POST/AFTER INTERVENTION

FINDINGS:

The pre-test and post-test marks were analysed by comparing mean score of both tests.

Mean score for pre-test was 20.32 %, while for the post-test it was 90.16%. From the Table 2.0 and Figure 21, it showed 69.84% improvement on students’ overall performance after intervention using the B-B B-F card and guided worksheets. This improvement showed that this intervention was effective in helping weak students to draw arrow to depict bond forming or simultaneous bond breaking and bond forming or bond forming in different step of free radical substitution mechanism. Students’ ability to draw the correct product or/ and intermediate(s) of each step of mechanism also increased. Students were also able to select correct reactant or/and intermediate for each step of mechanism.

Based on the questionnaire results, it could be seen clearly that all students involved agreed that they could write the free radical substitution mechanism of alkanes more confidently after intervention using B-B B-F card and guided worksheets.
